6. Thoughts from me:
THE OFF SZN!!!!!!The time for us.
Phew. Finally, we are able to reset / refresh / prepare for the next year.
As much as I want to sit around and eat desserts 24/7, I just can’t! It’s necessary to relax during this time, but we know we can’t do that the WHOLE off season.
People ask me how I stay ‘fit.’ Honestly, I’m not an avid workout gal — dance is my cardio AND my job.
It’s true, during season I just constantly stay busy practicing that there’s not much time or energy to spare for an individual workout.
But real talk people… in the off season, we must find a different outlet to maintain our fitness and stamina to be able to return the next year even stronger.
I honestly have found it difficult to find a workout that suits my interest and feels like the appropriate off-season challenge. How about you?
*Story time* — Yesterday morning a friend and I went to a kick-boxing class for the second time. The first time we went…I truly almost withered away (in the best way.)
But yesterday, I was able to pace myself and truly stay solid throughout.
The instructor plays music. And I mean like *it’s a party, it’s a party, it’s a party* kind of music. So, it gets hype. The dancer in my head performs a solo every song, obviously.
Anyways, mid-way through the class I noticed my friend and I were totally in sync with the instructors voice and music. Perfectly routine. We’re teammates, so it makes sense. But I truly enjoy a workout that lets my creative dance brain engage yet wander at the same time while also getting a proper full-body training session.
The trainer had to know we were dancers…or that we are a part of some strange cult of musical boxers.
What’s your favorite off-season workout? Have you found something that you fancy?
The main goal of your off-season workout should be to build stamina, improve flexibility, and gain the appropriate strength to further your dancing ability.
This is prime-time to take care of yourself. Get the proper rest and incorporate workouts into your schedule…while your freedom still rings!
You will thank yourself later!

8. Things to keep in mind / Moving forward:
What you do in the off-season matters.
Spend your time wisely now and be a champion when auditions / the new season rolls around.
Venture out and find workouts that interest you outside of the dance world. Go with a friend or teammate to join in the fun!
